A selection of hand made pottery vases

ABOUT

Handmade ceramics and jewellery by Mich Cann.
Made in the West Gippsland, Victoria.

I live and make ceramics on our little farm in Warragul South; on Gunnaikurnai land.

Stolen Flowers is named in honour of my grandmother Molly; a pink lipstick wearing painter, occasional poet and serial geranium pincher. When I began learning to throw, I wanted to make little vases for buds and casual posies, the kind my daughters and I collect while out walking, the kind perfect for a handful of foraged blooms.

Stolen Flowers is a fledgeling idea. An experiment in pursuing heart over head.

In the real world I run retail stores and a cooking school with my husband. Making is a joyful escape and a privilege.

I have no formal training, and have taught myself to throw, glaze and fire from the local public library, youtube, and instinct.

Every piece is either thrown on my mission brown 1979 Venco pottery wheel or hand built often on our back deck to the sound of magpies and kookaburras.

In my pots and jewellery there is rain and pasture, dimpled cheeks, warm eggs, strong women, good food, sad lyrics, weathered stone, salt water, mushroom gills, lambs ears, bird nests and so many stolen blooms.

I hope that my pieces are used, worn and gifted with love.
